Interview with Anne Lee of Shojo Power!

Transformation Sequence

Asides from blogging about Sailor Moon, I’m also a host of the Transformation Sequence podcast, a weekly review of anime of all shapes and sizes.

I’m a creature of habit if nothing else, and naturally I had to give myself the opportunity to talk about Sailor Moon in some form or another. I was lucky enough to score an interview with the incomparable Anne Lee of the Shojo Power! blog, a website of feminist analysis of Sailor Moon and beyond. It’s a fantastic website and I urge all my readers to jump over forthwith.

You can listen by search for Transformation Sequence on iTunes, visiting our website or on SoundCloud, or, you know, right here, below these words.

In this hour-long interview, Anne Lee, myself and my co-host Kym Stonick discuss the feminist angles of the Sailor Moon manga, the original series and Sailor Moon Crystal, although mostly we just go off topic and chat about which of the Sailor Senshi is our favourite. If you haven’t been able to gleam which Senshi is mine after 200 blog posts on Pretty Soldier Project, here’s your chance.

I think you’ll really enjoy this interview: I certainly did. I’m looking forward to de-constructing Sailor Moon in a more general sense sometime. I’ve gotten pretty good at it over the last 2 years. If you like it, feel free to subscribe to Transformation Sequence via iTunes, SoundCloud or your podcast aggregate of choice.
